Description Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is a category of Port Wine produced from a single harvest and bottled after ageing between 4 to 6 years. With this LBV Vasques de Carvalho have produced a powerful and fresh wine that will continue to age and evolve in the bottle. The year 2019 had particularly favourable weather conditions, producing Ports of excellent quality and ageing capacity. This LBV 2019 was aged for 4 years in stainless steel tanks and Balseiros (large wooden casks), until bottling, unfiltered in July 2023. A deep ruby colour, on the nose it has notes of black and red fruit, particularly plums and blackcurrants combined with balsamic and cedar hints. An excellent balance between freshness and fruit, acidity and sweetness. These qualities along with a long finish make this LBV a sublime wine. This port can be consumed straight away, but also has great potential for ageing in the bottle. Store on its side in a cool, dry and dark place. It should be decanted before serving at between 14º and 16º. It pairs beautifully with chocolate and fat cheese as well as with some meat dishes, such as game.
