Description The Darei vineyards grow in the granitic uplands of the Dão region in Central Portugal surrounded by forests. The area experiences warm days and cool nights which is great for maintaining elegance and freshness. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty this winery has long practiced organic farming and is now certified organic. The vines for this wine grow along the Dão River and this white wine is a blend of Encruzado grape, along with Malvasia Fina, Bical, and Cerceal. These organic grapes are carefully selected and remain with the skins for a few days before being pressed off in order to add extra texture, colour, and complexity. They are then fermented in cement vats for several months on the lees and with regular battonage, the wine is bottled after a light filtration. Although fresh and lively, there is also wonderful depth and flavours of ripe apples and pears, and a touch of pineapple and hazelnut balanced acidity and a long honeyed finish.
