Description The Vasques de Carvalho Vintage port is the result of careful selection of grapes at the peak maturation conveying all the genuine essence and potential expected of a vintage port. In the 2013 the winter rain and low spring temperatures followed by the hot and dry summer made for an excellent harvest, producing exceptionally concentrated wines. Fermented in granite lagars after treading by foot, it is aged for a short time in oak barrels before being transferred to stainless steel vats until it was bottled in July 2015. 6231 bottles have been produced, 102 of which are magnums. With a dark ruby colour this is a port of great volume and intensity. Fresh with juicy acidity and fine, firm tannins it is full of ripe fruit, with chocolate and black coffee notes and a velvety finish. The excellent balance between acidity and sweetness as well as the long finish reveal a solid wine, perfect for ageing. A classic and unforgettable vintage. Store this Vintage port on its side, in a cool, dry and dark place. It should be decanted before serving and served between 16º and 18º. It can be served as an aperitif or at the end of a fine meal, with fat cheese or chocolate and red berry desserts. International Wine Challenge – Gold medal. Despite its youth, this wine has lovely balance and dense velvet finish. First class. Best kept for 4-7 years.
