Description From Tras-os-montes in the far north-east of Portugal, a remote upland region with a harsh climate and extremes of temperature but where chestnut and olive trees thrive and vineyards can be found tucked away in sheltered valleys. The Quinta Sobreiró de Cima vines are found in areas of schistous soils around Valpacos in the heart of Tras-os-montes. At Quinta do Sobreiró de Cima the best grapes are selected from the Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Bastardo to create the Reserva. The grapes are harvested manually in small perforated boxes and destemmed and crushed immediately then fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After a prolonged maceration and malolactic fermentation in oak it is aged for 12 months in French and American oak. With a deep colour it has an aroma of mature black fruit, spice and a touch of balsamic. It has intense fruit flavours, velvety tannins and a long and persistent finish. QSC Reserva is a full-bodied wine whose ageing confers complexity and balance. This wine is an ideal match with game dishes, cheese and charcuterie.
