Description A concentrated 10 Year Old tawny port made with wines between 7 and 14 years’ age giving an average age of 10 Years. This tawny is aged in the Douro (as opposed to Vila Nova de Gaia down on the Atlantic coast), and is a rich and dark, but elegant and balanced port with a long finish. Made from grapes grown in the Baixo Corgo, a relatively cool and wet area where the temperatures lower than upper Douro which results in higher acidity perfect for aging and for balancing out the sugars. Aged in small oak barrels giving notes of wood and vanilla. Serve lightly chilled with a range of desserts and cheeses. After its considerable time in barrel, this has a toffee colour with hint of ruby at the core and an inviting nose of walnut and rich Muscavado sugar, plump raisins and a typical lift of shellac. On the palate it has a lovely sweetness, soft and creamy, the spirit beautifully subsumed beneath the lightly leafy but coffee-ish notes, Agen prune and raisins, and a very nicely balanced finish.
