Description Winemaker Jaime Costa is in charge of the Vasques de Carvalho portfolio. Having worked for 16 years at Burmeister, the former Revista de Vinhos Fortified Winemaker of the Year 2005 is working his magic with fine and rare aged Port wines. In a nutshell, Colheita Port is a single vintage-dated Tawny Port. It is similar to Tawny Port in production, appearance and flavour, but the main difference is that Colheita is from a single vintage and can really show variations from year to year. It is aged in wood for at least seven years (often many more), giving it a nutty, oxidized character. This 2004 Colheita has been aged in 550 litre casks and was first bottled in October 2022. It has a deep amber core with orange hues. Dense and bright it has an aroma of raisin fruit, honey liqueur, dried apricot and figs. Very persistent with excellent acidity and freshness. Simply fantastic. Store upright in a cool dark place and drink on the cool side. This Colheita matches perfectly with sweet pastries, tarte tatin as well as strong cheeses and dark chocolate, or just on his own at the end of a meal. There may be sediments.
