Description This wine has been made from selected bunches of Touriga Nacional grown in the sheltered valleys of Alenquer north of Lisbon. This variety does particularly well in this region away from the Atlantic winds and this is an exuberant example of the power and elegance of this grape variety grown at Quinta do Pinto. It has the violet notes very typical of the variety combined with some menthol, cocoa and black plum, lovely texture and rounded tannins and a long, fresh and elegant finish. Careful management of foliage and canopy enhance the grape’s aromas. Manual harvesting into small boxes with selection of the best bunches when entering the winery. Alcoholic fermentation is undertaken with indigenous yeasts in a cement tank at controlled temperature for 14 days. Malolactic fermentation follows. After 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, it was tasted, barrel by barrel, and, among the best, those that best suited this profile of elegance were selected.
