De 2023 jaargang van The Chocolate Block is een blend van 74% syrah, 11% grenache, 8% cabernet sauvignon, 6% cinsault en 1% viognier. Kleur: diep en donker rood Geur: intens zwart fruit, kersen, kardemom, tabak, espresso, cacao. Smaak: geur komt terug in het palet, complex zwart fruit, pruim, chocolade en viooltjes. Cacao achtige tannine, medium volume en veel karakter. Houdbaar: op dronk met decanteren, houdbaar tot 2029 Lekker bij: winterse stoofpot gerechten, pompoen stoof, harde Goudse kazen. The nose is dark and brooding and entices with its black fruit aromas and hints of pepper and spice. The blueberry and blackberry of the nose follow through onto a layered, full palate with flavours of dark plums and notes of dust, graphite and cocoa nib. The wine is focused and elegant, with fresh yet integrated acidity and fine-grained tannins, adding to exceptional structure. Black currant and milk chocolate linger on a silky finish.
