Botterill Free Range 100 Day Chicken (Only available Friday-Saturday)

The Botterill Family have been farming on the Belvoir Estate for 70 years in the small village of Croxton Kerrial. They produce the best of the best in the poultry world just 20 minutes from our Claypole Shop. Most supermarket birds are only grown to 39-40 days. Whereas Botterill chickens are slow grown to 100 days meaning they are bigger and allowed to mature. These sensational birds are a cross between a Cornish Game cockerel and a Sussex or Dorking hen. The birds dine on a diet of homegrown cereals plus the grass and herbage of their surroundings creating a nice layer of fat.  They are also dry plucked and game hung creating a soft dry skin as well as a serious depth of flavour. They roam the rolling hills of the Belvoir Estate with a rather wonderful view of Belvoir Castle. All weights include Giblets
